When a Boring White iPod Case Won’t Do

Not a big fan of the casing your iPod is in? A big DIY-er who doesn’t mind voiding his iPod warranty? If you fit both of these criteria you’ll find some inspiration than from Josh, a viewer of the popular iPod-fan site iLounge. Josh recently got creative with his old iPod mini, removing the original casing and housing his audio player in some beautiful wood.

Josh’s handmade modifications resulted in it being made of “Australian red cedar, Camphor Laurel for the clickwheel, brass plates, brass screws and the guts from the first ipod i ever had.” No glue was involved in holding the case together, and the clickwheel is held down on the sensor with thin double sided tape. This creative guy also modified with wood his iTrip and iPod mini dock. He said everything, when hooked up, worked just like the original. The end result is really a beautiful sight to behold indeeed.
