There are a lot of start up car companies out there developing all manner of hybrid and electric vehicles to embrace the growing alternative fuel source for cars movement. One of these – Fisker Automotive – took honors in a special concept vehicle awards contest for its very sexy looking Karma Sunset hardtop convertible coupe.

The Fisker Karma Sunset was designated the 2009 Production Preview Concept of the Year as part of the annual North American Concept Vehicle of the Year Awards. This vehicle is actually slated for production and should be available in 2011 for an initial depost amount of $25,000 (no final price tag seems to have been set yet). It draws its power via a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle model – in this particular case going up to 50 miles all electric before going more hybrid style like a Prius.
