NEC Debuts Eco-Friendly 23-Inch Display

by Nino Marchetti, August 11th, 2009

One particular category of computer-related products seeing huge strives in becoming more eco-friendly is displays. NEC in particular recently announced its new MultiSync EA231WMi. This 23-inch desktop display has several green technologies built in as well as being DisplayPort-compatible.

The EA231WMi, mainly targeted towards business users, has a special “Eco-Mode,” which lets you choose 75 or 50 percent backlight for less energy burn. It also has an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the backlight depending upon external lighting conditions. Other green functions include being EPEAT Gold-compliant and Energy Star 5.0 and TCO 5.0 compliant. The DisplayPort technology, meanwhile, lets your monitor do audio and video over the same cable to a compatible device.
