Samsung Flagship HDTV Energy Efficient
The beat of eco-friendly LED HDTVs continued recently, this time by a new flat panel announcement from consumer electronics manufacturer Samsung. The company says this television, the 8500 Series, is the flagship model of its expanded LED HDTV lineup and will be available in September.
The Samsung 8500 Series consists of a 46-inch display priced around $3,600 and a 55-inch display priced around $4,500. Both units are compliant with the most recent Energy Star ratings and also sport a mode which adjusts the backlight and picture quality as necessary to help save energy. Besides being more energy efficient, the 8500 Series also offers some nice features for enhanced entertainment, including 7,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, an array of multimedia connections, a depth of 1.6-inches and Internet connectivity to offer access to a variety of information services.
