GreenRenter Helps Searchers Find Green Rentals
Say you are in the market for green property. Green meaning a building or property built with sustainable building practices and partially powered by solar panels on the roof. It isn’t easy finding that kind of information online unless you know specifically what to punch into Google. One Web site which aims to make it easier to find green real estate, however, is recently launched GreenRenter.
GreenRenter, according to its philosophy statement, wants to (1) make it easy for renters to find and choose green properties and (2) owners to “learn new strategies for sustainability and showcase their efforts.” A number of typical search criteria are available to choose from, such as zip code, but the one most pushed by GreenRenter is its self-developed “GreenRenter” score. This “provides a snapshot of a building’s sustainability using a scale of 1 to 5, the higher the number the greener the building,” looking at items such as “the breadth and innovativeness of the [green] measures employed.”
