2010 Nissan Altima Hybrid Heads to Dealerships

While the wild west of the electric car movement continues to unveil new vehicles consumers ponder about purchasing, the slightly more established hybrid sector is busy spinning out traditional model conversions. One of these is Nissan, which announced yesterday the retail kickoff of its 2010 Altima Hybrid.

The mid-size Nissan 2010 Altima Hybrid, pricing at start under $27,000, makes use of its hybrid technology to offer a pretty good gas mileage of 35 MPG city and 33 MPG highway. It sports a “specialized version of Nissan’s QR25 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine and standard electronically controlled CVT with an advanced electric drive motor/generator.” The net power rating of the hybrid system is 148 kw, and the total distance this hybrid can travel between fuel ups is said to be over 600 miles. New features include “a revised front end appearance, new 16-inch wheel design, revised option package content, refined interior fabric and finishers and one new exterior color.”

In considering this post, I wanted to know from readers: do you believe hybrids built upon other car platforms are better than unique hybrids such as the Prius, or does it really not matter?

Looks cool. But I think that car should be built on their own hybrid platforms. Why pay lots more for not a lot of benefit?

The best piece of automobile, I’ve ever seen in my life! This car rocks the table! It is the most proportionate blend of performance, power and style a vehicle freak could ever get. I’ve been driving this vehicle from past 6 months and I am really, really grateful to my friend who suggested to me this car. If you are planning to invest on a car then go ahead and buy this superb example of excellence in the automobile world.
