Modified Ford Fusion Hybrid Debuts as Luxury Limo

by Nino Marchetti, October 30th, 2009

Take one regular Ford Fusion Hybrid. Turn it over to a company which builds limos. Let them take a crack at stretching the vehicle and making it all luxury like. What do you get? The 2010 Hybrid L Fusion Livery Sedan from Royale, said to be the first hybrid electric vehicle built specifically for the livery industry.

Royale has gone and extended the chassis and rear doors of a typical Ford Fusion Hybrid, as well as adding “many luxury upgrades.” (we personally hoped for a wet bar ourselves, but it doesn’t look to have one from the photos – bummer on that). This modified luxury vehicle is now said to offer 95 percent of the rear leg and shoulder room of your typical Lincoln Town Car limo, while doing obviously much better on the fuel economy.

Royale says its Hybrid L limo now specifically gets 41 MPG city/36 MPG highway, compared 15 MPG city/22 MPG highway of the previously mentioned Town Car. The hybrid technology also offers all the other usual benefits, including lower fuel and CO2 emissions costs, regenerative braking to renew the battery and just that general warm and fuzzy feeling you’ll probably have heading to your executive jet that at least your car ride was much more eco-friendly.
