New LG Touchscreen Phone Goes Solar
LG Electronics has for itself a shiny new cell phone which the company says is “the most compact 3-inch full touchscreen phone ever made.” The new GD510, which will appear first in Europe this month, will then be in other markets soon after. What makes it interesting from an eco-perspective is the optional backside solar panel.
While LG doesn’t mention at all the solar panel in a recent news release on the GD510, pictures of the phone released by the company do show, in fact, an optional panel can be attached. There’s no specs on how the panel impacts battery life on the mobile, but that’s information which should be readily available shortly. Other features of this phone include music and movie playback in several different file formats, a 3.0 mega pixel camera, a touchscreen which extends almost to the edge of mobile, a 4.8 mm bezel and a single button on the face that functions as the menu.
