Want a good arm workout while charging your favorite portable device? The upcoming Easy Energy YoGen, announced today, will definitely give you that and more, or so the manufacturer says. This portable, hand-operated charging device will debut for purchase online sometime in November.
The claim of the YoGen, according to Easy Energy, is that it “features unmatched capacity to recharge any small-to-mid-sized personal electronics device by offering the industry’s leading ratio of energy output to input.” One accomplishes this miracle energy feat by “repeated pulls on an attached ripcord, similar to the motion of a Yo-Yo.” It is said this device’s “internal alternator generates power” and then “interfaces with an energy-efficient electronic stabilizer and transmission to transfer linear kinetic energy through a patch cord” to the attached device. What isn’t mentioned yet is how much yoyoing you’ll have to do to generate the needed power.
Easy Energy added the YoGen has thus far gotten strong reception from the public in Hong Kong, where it was debuted at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair. This device will come in two flavors, including one as a “generator with a 650 mAh 3.7V back-up battery.” Featured on the YoGen for connectivity to devices needing charging is a mini-USB port, and included in the package will be “a set of flexible cables terminated by connector adaptors for most popular cell-phones and other hand-held electrical devices.”
