Ecobee Smart Thermostat iPhone App Released
Conserving energy at home? There’s an app for that. Ecobee has recently announced the release of a new smartphone application for their Smart Thermostat that will allow users to adjust their heating and cooling from anywhere in the house or even on vacation. The free application is compatible with the iPhone and iPod Touch.
The application works by turning the screen of an iPhone or iPod into a clone of the user’s Ecobee Smart Thermostat at home. The thermostat, which is connected to a wireless router, then makes adjustments to its heating and cooling settings and scheduled events. According to a release from the company, the application can be used to schedule or update vacation events, change the system or fan operating settings and receive alerts. The application also allows users to access the Smart Thermostat QuickSave feature, which automatically puts the home in energy savings mode.

The Smart Thermostat iPhone and iPod Touch application was developed in conjunction with Five Mobile, a firm that specializes in content development for smartphone platforms. The application is now available for free download at the iTunes Store.
