ViewSonic Offers Up New Greener Computer Displays

ViewSonic is one of those computer companies working to make a niche for itself in greener computing. The company, besides recently introducing the eco-friendly VOT132 PC mini, announced this week a few new green tech monitors for both businesses and consumers. These include the VX1932wm-LED, priced around $170, and the VA705b, priced around $150.

The ViewSonic VX1932wm-LED is a 19-inch display which sports a a mercury free WLED backlight that uses 50 percent less power compared to similar monitors and “automatically detects image signal and intelligently controls backlight brightness.” Energy consumption is a low 15 watts, helping to garner the VX1932wm-LED Energy Star 5.0 compliance. It is also TCO 5.0 compliant and sports a slim bezel design with built-in stereo speakers.

Viewsonic’s other recent green display offering is the 17-inch VA705b. This monitor as well is Energy Star 5.0 compliant, making use of just 21 watts of power. It sports on screen menu controls and a similar, slim bezel design. It has as part of its features 250 nits brightness.
