New Solar Charging Tote Made from Recycled Plastic

How green can a tote bag targeted towards consumer electronics owners get? Well – how about one made from recycled plastic bottles which uses renewable energy to charge devices stored in it? That’s the idea behind Concord Keystone’s new 4U2ReUSE Solar Sling, debuting this week at the Consumer Electronics Show.

The Solar Sling from Concord Keystone is, in our opinion, a much better green technology innovation than Concord’s rather odd Eco Tag solar luggage tag. The Solar Sling tote bag is made from recycled PET (reclaimed plastic bottles). It comes with an integrated solar panel and battery pack with USB connectors. These connectors can charge a variety of devices, such as mobile phones and digital cameras, while carried in the bag.

Concord Keystone says the integrated solar technology can produce energy in a variety of lighting conditions, but optimally one should charge it under the sun for five hours to fill the battery. The Solar Sling “sports a laptop compartment, roomy pockets to carry essentials and a key clip.” It will be available in four color combinations and includes the battery pack and accessory compartments.
