Other Green Gadget Goodness:
There were other products on display at the one day conference, mostly being showcased during individual presentations during the course of the day. Two in particular intrigued us, so we’ve highlighted them below, including a link to the product’s Web site for more information.

During a part of the conference called the Sustainable Show-Off Mei Shibata of ThinkEco showcased to the audience her company’s modlet smart plug. It is described as plugging into one’s existing outlets for easy installation, wirelssly communicating with a Web application “an interactive conservation experience where you can control your outlets remotely, team up with friends on green challenges and share savings tips with the Web community.” It should be out by the end of the year.

During Gadget Talks – short presentations of existing green tech products and ideas – Tom Hadfield of LaboGroup showcased his company’s Andrea plant-based purifier. This device, housing a common garden variety house plant, can be used to cleanly purify the air in a small room in a much more eco-friendly way than using a regular air purifier which requires one to swap out air filters. It draws room air via a fan into the dome “to propel it through the leaves and root system of a plant, then out through water and soil filtration and back into the room environment.”
