Thinksound Eco Earbuds Attempt To Offer Quality Listening

by Susan DeFreitas, February 5th, 2010

For everyone who’s ever been frustrated with the sound quality of their ear-buds, there’s now an eco-answer: the Thinksound line of wood, aluminum and PVC-free earbuds, offering “big sound with a small footprint.”

While their eco-profile might lead some to believe these earbuds are more about the way they’re made than the kind of sound they deliver, think again. According to Treehugger, the Thinksound line was developed by two bonafide audio-geeks who met while working for Tivoli Audio (one of whom went on to serve as chief audio product tester for the publishers of Consumer Reports.)  The Rain 9mm high definition earbuds feature “crisp highs with balanced bass and mids for the discriminating listener,” while the TS01 10mm buds offer the same but with enhanced bass.

Both earbuds come housed in sustainably harvested wood with recycled aluminum baffles and PVC-free, tangle-resistant cables. They work with iPhone, iPod, MP3, CD, DVD, PSP players and computers and come with a 3.5mm gold plated plug for improved sound clarity. $99/each from Thinksound.
