Luxury EV In The Works From U.K.’s Morgan
Luxury retro-automobile manufacturer Morgan Motor Company, out of the United Kingdom, has announced plans to develop a high-end electric car called the Morgan+E over the next six months.
We first caught news of the new car over on the Diseno-art blog, which reports that the Morgan+E will take it chassis from Morgan Motor’s Aero Supersports model seen in the photo below.

The new Morgan+E will replace the 4.8 litre BMW V8 gasoline engine found in the Aereo Supersports with a 70-kilowatt, rear-wheel electric powertrain produced by Zytek. That’s the company, you might recall, that’s helping automaker Gordon Murray with a super-efficient electric vehicle.
As part of the Niche Vehicle Programme in the United Kingdom, Morgan was awarded a grant of roughly $163,000 to make two of the electric vehicles, one for testing and one for demonstration purposes. The team of engineers and builders hope to complete both electric cars by January 2012.
