We’re all familiar with electric and hybrid vehicles, best known for their part in cutting down on gasoline use and carbon dioxide emissions. Trouble is, EVs and hybrids still need to be refueled, and the refueling process often takes the form of traditional, fossil-based energy supplies. While some EV companies are getting around this by offering solar or wind-powered charging stations, the cars can still run out of juice on the road. But what if that didn’t have to happen? What if your car, simply by driving along on a sunny afternoon, could replenish its own power?
