JoAnn Berman has a long history in the fashion limelight, creating looks in the '90s for stars like Michael Jackson and Salt-n-Pepa, and has also been through her share of ordeals, such as her store being destroyed by fire in 2006--though not before catching the attention of Rihanna. Berman's clothes are wild, neon assemblages of recycled and upcycled fabrics, many coming from old articles of clothing repurposed by Berman, who finds them in second-hand shops, thus reducing her footprint and giving sustainability a definite edge.
