At six acres, the Vancouver Convention Centre's living roof is impressively sized, and looks more like a field than a rooftop. It's home to thousands of native plants and the rainwater recovered is used for irrigation. Its goal was to bring some natural beauty into Vancouver's downtown area, as expressed by architect Bruce Hemstock in the video about the roof. Normally closed to the public, it was also part of the Growing Cities documentary.
