It might not look like art to many people, but this arroyo was actually carefully designed and sculpted by artist Lynne Hull whose work is meant to be appreciated out in nature, and not just by humans--Hull describes herself as a "trans-species" artist. She creates sculpture that becomes part of the landscape, and is designed to help prevent erosion, and collect water and space for local wildlife. The arroyo seen above, for example, diverts water, preventing further erosion of the bank. Hull describes her work as "eco-atonement" for the environmental damage done by humans.
