The greenest stadium in the NFL doesn't even have a team yet, nor has it actually been built -- but the big green plans for Farmer's Field in Los Angeles are too big not to mention. When California Gov. Jerry Brown approved a bill to fast-track development of a new stadium to bring NFL football back to Los Angeles, he did so on the condition that the project be 100 percent carbon neutral for all emissions generated from private automobile trips to and from the stadium -- and that the venue achieve the highest ratio of fans-to-automobiles in the NFL. Oh, and no cheating; the project must prioritize onsite and local renewable energy projects over simply purchasing carbon offsets. Sports and entertainment presenters AEG are currently working with a number of partners to make that happen, including the U.S. Green Building Council and the Natural Resources Defense Council. The stadium is expected to be complete in 2017.
